Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to Saint Lucia, His Excellency Mr. Ray Mou presented a cheque to the Government of Saint Lucia on Thursday.
GIS – Ambassador of Taiwan to Saint Lucia, His Excellency Ray Mou, has promised that the Republic of China (Taiwan) will continue to support the government and people of Saint Lucia in the new year.
Ambassador Mou said the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) is eager to assist Saint Lucia’s development efforts.
Recently, under the Constituency Development Program Cooperation Fund, Ambassador Mou presented a cheque that will fund phase two of the Sarrot Multi–Purpose Court Project. He indicated that his office has been observing the project and is pleased with the progress.
“I am happy that we can participate in this project totaling EC$650,000,” he said. “This is the second part, so today I am delighted to present EC$250,000 to the ministry. I believe that very soon we will witness the nicely done court for everybody.”
Minister for Economic Development, Housing, Urban Renewal, Transport and Civil Aviation Hon. Guy Joseph (Castries South East), in whose constituency the project is being undertaken applauded the Government of Taiwan for undertaking “very meaningful projects” throughout Saint Lucia.
“I am happy to be here today to receive the balance of the donation towards the multi-purpose court in Sarrot. We are hoping to have a grand opening to mark the anniversary of Independence this year in February. In every community, you will be able to see [how] the lives of the people have been impacted by the projects from grant funding from the Taiwanese government. We are very grateful, ambassador.”
Ambassador Mou indicated that the upcoming Constituency Development Program Cooperation Fund may have a possible budget of US$2.9 million.
