(PRESS RELEASE) – Residents of Volet and other neighboring communities in Micoud, are being invited to a community consultation this Sunday January 19, to discuss detailed design options prepared by Consultants, to deal with the perennial problem of flooding and road closure often created due to the failure of the Volet Bridge Culvert, located along the Micoud Highway.
The Government of Saint Lucia consulted Amarna Consult Ltd to undertake detailed designs for the reconstructions of the Volet bridge as part of the Disaster Vulnerability Reduction Project (DVRP).
The consultancy which began on December 04, 2019 aims to strengthen the highway resilience against hydro-meteorological hazards and climate related impacts. This will mean an end to production losses for community farmers who often suffer from flooding and residents and other road users who are also impacted in times of heavy rains.
Residence are encouraged to attend the community consultation and share their views on the designed options, on Sunday January 19 from 4pm at the Micoud Secondary School.
Engineers from the Department of Infrastructure along with the Project Coordinating Team, Consultants and the District Representative Hon. Dr. Gale Rigobert will be on hand to answer any related questions and or queries.
